David Bowie is recovering at home in New York after undergoing emergency heart surgery last month.
Bowie, 57, was forced to cut short a performance in Scheesel, Germany, on June 25th due to pain in his shoulder. Initially Bowie was believed to be suffering from a pinched nerve, but doctors instead found “an acutely blocked artery,” requiring angioplasty. The procedure was performed in Hamburg and he returned to New York this week. The remainder of his European tour was cancelled.
“I’m so pissed off because the last ten months of this tour have been so fucking fantastic,” Bowie said. “I can’t wait to be fully recovered and get back to work again. I tell you what, though, I won’t be writing a song about this one.”
